Koyasan Buddhist Temple
Acrylic painting (9” x 7.5”) on paper (12” x 12”)
2024
For 113 years, the Koyasan Buddhist Temple (Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin) has served the Little Tokyo community and beyond. I wanted to capture the temple’s second location on South Central Avenue because of my love for the Aoyama fig tree, which was planted in front. Though today the temple is on First Street, the fig tree remains in its original location, towering over a parking lot.
See my short non-fiction piece about the Aoyama fig tree here at Boom California.
Signed with a certificate of authenticity. Frame not included.
Ships from Los Angeles. Local pick up available.
