For 51 years, Suehiro Cafe (スエヒロ) was a restaurant and community hub in Little Tokyo. I wanted to recapture the nostalgia and charm of its bright and welcoming First Street location with this painting. I had many meals with friends at Suehiro, and it wasn’t unusual to run into people from the community or nearby Boyle Heights.
