A Mural Celebrating the Threatened Los Angeles Black Walnut Tree.
A hand-painted ceiling mural featuring a black walnut tree and its animal and insect fauna over the entrance to a community lending library in Los Angeles.
The California black walnut (Juglans californica) is a native tree species found in Southern California. Once common throughout portions of the Los Angeles region, urban development and habitat loss have significantly reduced its historic range. Despite these challenges, black walnut woodlands continue to provide important habitat for birds, insects, mammals, and native plants.
